The Coastal Volleyball Club difference

Here are a few differences between Coastal and other Junior Clubs:

One Team Per Court
Each team gets a court to themselves each practice. While most other NERVA clubs have 2-3 teams that share courts during practice to save cost, we believe that dilutes the ability to focus on training. At Coastal we have 1 team per court and the players are able to get more touches of the volleyball. The team coach can focus really on each players training instead of trying to train while sharing.

Experienced Coaches
Our coaching staff is made up of current High School coaches with many years of experience and state championships. We continue to send our coaches to coaching clinics for the most up to date coaching technique. In 2016 our coaches were able to learn from Hugh McCutcheon, Mark Rosen and Courtney Thompson. In 2018 all of our coaches attended the Art of Coaching Volleyball clinic in Boston with Russ Rose (Penn State), John Dunning (Stanford), Terry Liskevych (USA National Team). Our highest level coaches are at every practice to assist all teams.

Competition Levels
Coastal believes in placing our teams in competitive levels. Our belief is that you get better by playing better levels. Some clubs begin their teams at the lowest levels to win medals. At Coastal we are here to develop the players skill and winning medals is not our main focus. That does NOT mean we do not want to win, it means we are focused in developing the player and team skill levels to win at the high levels of the game.

Convention Center Event – RI Rumble
All our teams will compete in at least 1 NERVA Convention Center event. The RI Rumble offers 18 courts of competition and 200 teams in Providence RI. This competition offers an opportunity to play in a large setting against teams from all over the Northeast and Canada.
