Coastal coach and NERVA Commissioner, Dave Peixoto attended the 2013 Volleyball Hall of Fame Banquet in Holyoke MA. At the banquet Coach Dave met with Doug Beal, CEO of USA Volleyball and former Gold Medal USA Mens Olympic team coach, Roxann Link, NERVA Juniors Commissioner and Bill Hamiter, National Women’s Sitting team coach.
The group discussed programming in the New England Region and future events planned for the Region including the newly established New England Pre-Qualifier Tournament, to be held in Boston on March 8/9, 2014.
Also attending the banquet were Karch Kiraly, 3 time Olympic Gold Medalist and current Women’s Olympic team coach.He is pictured on the left with Coastal’s Nicole Peixoto and Husky’s Kelly Ryan. Karch presented the Hall of Fame award to Natalie Cook of Australia. Natalie is a five time Olympian who also has a gold
medal in Beach volleyball. Natalie is pictured below with Nicole Peixoto wearing Natalie’s Gold Medal.
The Volleyball Hall of Fame is located in Holyoke MA, the birthplace of Volleyball. The 28th induction class consisted of beach volleyball player Natalie Cook of Australia, women’s volleyball player Caren Kemner of the United States and men’s volleyball player Vyacheslav Zaytsev of Russia. Also receiving the Mintonette Medallion of Merit was New England’s own Joel Dearing, former coach of Springfield College.
